How novel! What an interesting title to my first message...
I am a financial planner, known as The Hometown Advisor. This is due to the fact that I live and have my office in a small town in middle America, and my clients come primarily from the same. To take a quote from my newsletter:
This quarterly Newsletter is dedicated to those of us who consider ourselves “average”. Now, I’m not referring to the geeky fellas on that TV show, either. I’m talking about working class, middle-Americans, with kids to feed and clothe, car payments to make, credit card bills, and a household budget.
We’re the lovable mutts, the people that make the world work. We know what it means to grow up and live in the shadow of a grain elevator. We work hard all of our lives, and someday hope to enjoy the fruits of that labor.
The stuff you’ll find in these pages will be down-to-earth, useful information that will (hopefully) help you improve your understanding of your current financial situation, and help you move toward your goals:
• Someday, we’d like to take a family vacation without having to wonder how we’ll pay for it when the credit card bill comes.
• Someday, we’d like to be able to send our kids off to college, knowing that they won’t be covered in debt when they graduate.
• Someday, we’d like to retire by the seaside, where we can fish, and golf, and just take it easy.
Hopefully that helps to explain my business and my clientele.
I'll plan on using this blog primarily as a way to record my thoughts on various topics surrounding financial planning and advice - for example, just what do I mean by "financial planning"?
More to come...
